UPDATE: This post was made as Shinn Shots Photography and does not represent the style or goals of Blue Space Photography. Because I believe in knowing where you’ve come from, I’ve left this here as a reminder of the journey that led me to where I am today. I now only shoot storytelling sessions, so be sure to check out my current work in more recent posts! – Lauren
There’s nothing like the sleep-deprived state after having a baby. Thankfully, I can go to people’s houses for newborn shoots! With their oldest two boys at church with the grandparents, Cathryn and David were kind enough to skip a Sunday morning snooze to get some pictures of their sweet new baby boy, Mark.
We weren’t scheduled for our newborn shoot until November, but Mark decided to make his appearance 3 weeks early! He did a great job during the shoot and gave me some great awake time and some wonderful asleep time too.
I even got to play around with some artistic vision! The idea was to create a picture that demonstrated what happens after you have a baby. That baby has to just squeeze right into your busy life and hectic schedule. Mark fit perfectly on a playroom shelf and the idea came to life! The best part came as I was taking the picture. Cathryn and David began to notice all the special things that show up in the picture, like David’s blind grandmother’s typewriter that she used to send him letters, the older siblings’ lovies, and old camera gear. The life of the family shows up on those shelves, and that’s just where Mark belongs. Snug as a bug, seamlessly blending right in with the rest of their life 🙂
